Spoonful

Tucked away in a cozy corner of the city, Spoonful is a dining gem that brings together the best of comfort food and innovative culinary artistry. Whether you're a local looking for a regular spot to unwind or a visitor seeking a memorable meal, Spoonful promises an experience that’s both satisfying and exciting. From its thoughtfully crafted menu to its welcoming ambiance, this restaurant has mastered the art of combining tradition with a touch of modern flair.

The Ambiance: Warmth and Style

Spoonful greets you with an atmosphere that feels both intimate and lively. The interior is a seamless blend of rustic charm and contemporary design, making it perfect for both casual get-togethers and special celebrations. Soft lighting, comfortable seating, and carefully chosen decor give the space a warm, inviting feel. The overall vibe strikes the right balance between a relaxed bistro and an upscale dining destination, creating an ideal backdrop for a leisurely meal.

Culinary Creations: A Blend of Tradition and Innovation

The menu at Spoonful is where the restaurant truly shines, showcasing a creative approach to comfort food that elevates familiar dishes to new heights. One of the standout features is the restaurant’s ability to fuse traditional flavors with modern techniques, resulting in dishes that are both nostalgic and contemporary.

For example, their roast chicken is a masterclass in comfort, with crispy, golden skin giving way to juicy, tender meat. However, it’s the accompanying sides, like a unique roasted garlic mashed potato or seasonal vegetable medley, that really elevate the dish. Another must-try is the seafood risotto, where the rich, creamy texture of the risotto pairs perfectly with the fresh, high-quality seafood—showcasing the restaurant's commitment to using only the best ingredients.

For those with a craving for something more adventurous, Spoonful also offers a dim sum selection that’s both delightful and innovative. Each bite is a burst of flavor, and the menu includes creative takes on classic dim sum such as truffle-infused dumplings and lobster spring rolls. These inventive dishes highlight the restaurant’s flair for combining international influences with locally sourced ingredients.

Service: Attentive and Knowledgeable

The service at Spoonful is another element that sets the restaurant apart. The staff exude a passion for food and hospitality, providing helpful recommendations and ensuring that diners feel well taken care of throughout their meal. Whether you need assistance with the wine list or a quick explanation of a dish, the team’s expertise is always on display. Their friendly yet professional demeanor helps create an atmosphere of trust and comfort, making each visit an enjoyable one.

Value for Money: A Thoughtful Experience

When it comes to value, Spoonful strikes an impressive balance. While the quality of the ingredients and the creativity in the dishes suggest a fine-dining experience, the prices remain accessible for most diners. The portions are generous, ensuring that you leave feeling satisfied but never overstuffed. With a well-curated wine list and thoughtfully crafted cocktails, Spoonful provides an exceptional dining experience that won’t break the bank.

Conclusion

At Spoonful, the marriage of comfort and creativity is what truly makes it stand out. The ambiance sets the perfect stage, the food is an imaginative take on familiar favorites, and the service is attentive and knowledgeable. Whether you're visiting for a casual lunch or a special night out, Spoonful ensures that every meal is memorable. For those looking to explore new twists on traditional dishes, Spoonful is a must-try destination

A super place which does amazing breakfasts/brunches, try eggs benedict or florentine or the tartine breakfast. Superbly cooked by owner Fabrice or one of his staff. There are also some nice cooked dishes and salads. A very good variety. And.. they even take old fashioned cash, and even £50 pound notes! Well done, it is a great local to enjoy.less

Stopped in to get hot chocolate and pastries to take away. Everything was delicious and good value, and we were made very welcome while we waited. Will be heading back next time I'm nearby!less

having been recommended as one of the best sandwiches in town, we decided to pop in for lunch..... ordered a Panini and a tea - staff were amazing, accommodating and friendly..... my friend was 1/2 way through her panini when she proceeded to pull a 5cm long hair out of her sandwich....! As the shop had customers in, I politely took the uneaten 1/2 sandwich back to the counter and called the waiter to the side to point out this hair so no one else would see..... i said, Ill leave this with you..... So from then the clock ticks as to how they are going to sort this out ..... nobody came to us to apologise or anything of the sort.... When I went to pay, I asked what am I paying for as was not sure.... the waiter called the owner and he briskly rang up a few items and said £12.80, to which I repeated what am I paying for.....referring to the sandwich with the hair which one would assume would be removed from the bill as we never ate it! He replied - I am only charging you for 1/2 sandwich(the half you ate) and the other half with the hair he will not charge for..... I wanted nothing for free - a simple sorry sir would have sufficed... Still nothing.... They tried to say it was the hair from the sponge - indignant that this was actually a gross health and safety faux pas..... don't think Ill be rushing back anytime soon...less

Delightful The Eggs Benedict served up by the owner and chef in non-lockdown times has been much commented on elsewhere, but I can second that in spades. He was happy to be flexible and serve this with bacon and not ham for me and his hollandaise is to die for. Brilliant variety of texture and sumptuous eggs. Worth a visit just for this. Do be aware of course that this is a deli-cum-cafe with only 5 small soft-wood vanished tables inside even, in non-Covid times. The ambience can be secluded and calm and I have worked on my laptop here for hours in past, but it is also a thriving deli / coffee shop particularly now Hammersmith Bridge has closed so people come for the fresh basil, chives, courgettes, local breads, artisan chocolates and the wonderfully decadent chocolate almond croissants. In this way it is bustling with middle-aged cyclists stopping off on their routes past Putney and Chiswick and Richmond; local Thames path walkers tempted in by the closed pathway and families and local kids with their grandparents and parents. Authentically French as others have said and French is often the language heard if you pop in and out between customers and owner - warm, huge variety of speciality foods for such small place and organic Rieslings and Malbecs galore - if you want wine and you are local v much worth going here. Warm and friendly service, though in busiest of times one should not be surprised if this can become gruff or moody or short.less
